ignorance must be bliss

I wouldn't know... but the ref seems to...

Facts are facts, but the truly insightful man looks behind them. The real fact is that the payroll for Chelsea is absurd- Abramovich makes Steinbrenner look like a piker. with the talent he has bought, this team ought to win every game 4-nil. Why don't they? Because they have no chemistry and no discretion. Discretion? Swp has been criminally wasted- who cares if we waste a career? (it's irrelevant that he scored today) and ballack has been a waste of unprecedented proportions. Chemistry? 4 central midfielders, despite the fact that they are all superstars (except for ballack who is bollocks), is a disaster that anyone with half a discriminating brain could have seen coming. Special one? overrated doesn't begin to describe it. If they don't win 4 trophies with this roster, it is underperforming to an unprecedented degree.

Before I post anything in particular I assume that you are withdrawing your support for your beloved yankees with that kind of post?

of course not- but the key thing is that my support is not unqualified as yours appears to be. when they or their players suck, i am the first to say so. ARod, Randy Johnson, Moose- they didnt come through and i am happy to blast them. Giambi and SHeff the steroid boys- disgusting. i would also note that i have been a yankee fan since i was a kid, since i lived within subway distance of the stadium, and my first year of memory of them they finished in last place and they were horrible for many years. You, on the other hand, have been on the chelsea bandwagon for how long??? (unlike me as a long suffering ManU fan)

Whoa! I've been away from the blog for a while and things are geting testy!!

My only comment for the moment is that SWP has blown up his career. He's still young enough so maybe he can resurrect it, but it probably won't be at chelsea. But is it chelsea's fault or does some lie with SWP? Couldn't he have seen what he was getting into?

It's like A-Rod moving from his natural position, SS, over to 3B, in order to accept the $250 million from George. While he may still be on track to the HOF, he's no longer the player he once was. Someday, some player will say, you know, the situation I have now is really good, the XX million I am making is enough and I don't need to make more to live reasonably well(!), so I see no reason to move simply for the money into a situation that makes no sense to my career.

agree with the AR re SWP- he has to bear a good deal of the blame, but at the end of the day Jose and Roman have been irresponsible with Roman's money and with their approach to player acquisitions. will players ever learn? who knows- perhaps Barry Zito did- have to believe that there was more money for him in NY than in SF.
